Microsoft ® New Zealand in association with LOOP Recordings is searching
for an aspiring Kiwi musician or songwriter to be rewarded with a professional
recording opportunity and amazing computer package. Rise & Shine is
a competition that aims to support ‘grass roots’ New Zealand
talent. Whether you are a master of the ballads or just scribble down
lyrics, this competition welcomes you to Rise & Shine.

- Airfares & accommodation for two people staying
at The Duxton Hotel in Wellington.
- Two days of recording time at Trident Studios with a
top New Zealand musician and studio engineer.
- Mixing and mastering of the song at Trident Studios.
- A Hi-End Windows Vista PC with wide-screen monitor to
aid music creation & play back.
- Professional servicing of the song to New Zealand radio
stations.
- An equipment voucher to the value
of $2000 at The Rock Shop.

Our aim is to keep the guidelines to this competition as open as possible
but is only open to legal residents of New Zealand.
Entries will be accepted be in the following categories only:
1. Demo: You can supply a demo of your song on CD.
2. Melody: You can supply a melodic idea for a song.
3. Lyrics: You can supply lyrics or a lyrical idea for a song.

Terms and Conditions:
1. Entries must be post-marked by February 27 2007.
2. Entries must include the following information:
Full Name, address, email, and phone.
Category type: Demo, Melody, or Lyrics
Song name:
3. The winner will be notified via email or phone.
4. Contest is open to amateur and professional songwriters. Employees of LOOP and Microsoft New Zealand, their families, subsidiaries, and affiliates are not eligible. Entries can only be accepted from legal residents of New Zealand.
5. Winners will be chosen by a select panel of judges comprised of noted songwriters, producers, and music industry professionals. Songs will be judged based on melody, composition and lyrics (when applicable). The quality of performance and production will not be considered.
6. CDs and lyrics will not be returned. All content submitted remains the property of the contestant but Loop has the right to use the content, without additional permission, in any way it deems necessary over the duration of the competition.
7. Winner Announcements: Each song submitted must be contestant's original work. Any material deemed by LOOP not to be original will be immediately excluded from the competition. Songs may not exceed four (4) minutes in length. Songs may have multiple co-writers, but please designate one name only on the application. Contestant may submit as many songs in as many categories as he/she wishes, but each entry requires a separate, CD, entry form, lyric sheet. LOOP and Microsoft New Zealand are not responsible for late, lost, damaged, misdirected, postage due, stolen, or misappropriated entries.
8. Rules and regulations and sponsorship prizes are subject to change at LOOP's discretion. LOOP reserves the right to make any final decision on the judging should there be any problematic or unforeseen issues that arise.
