Bio
Aaradhna is one of Aotearoa New Zealand’s most celebrated and influential contemporary artists - a soulful singer, songwriter and producer whose music blends R&B, soul, reggae and pop with the richness of her Samoan and Indian heritage. Born in Porirua, Wellington, Aaradhna first broke through in 2004 with the chart-topping single “Getting Stronger” alongside Adeaze, before establishing herself as a defining voice in New Zealand music with acclaimed releases including I Love You, Treble & Reverb, Brown Girl and most recently Sweet Surrender.
Known for her raw, emotive vocals and deeply personal songwriting, Aaradhna has created some of Aotearoa’s most enduring modern soul records, with hits including “Down Time”, “They Don’t Know”, “Wake Up”, “Forever Love” and “Brown Girl”. Her music explores themes of identity, love, resilience and self-worth, while fearlessly challenging cultural stereotypes and championing authenticity. Her landmark 2016 album Brown Girl received widespread international attention for its powerful commentary on race and representation in New Zealand.
Across her career, Aaradhna has earned multiple Aotearoa Music Awards and Pacific Music Awards, as well as a Grammy nomination in 2017 for her songwriting work with J Boog. Now regarded as one of the most important voices across the Pacific, she continues to evolve creatively as both an artist and producer, with her latest work further cementing her reputation for uncompromising artistry, emotional honesty and genre-defying sound.
