Loop Electronic is proud to present the debut single from Wellington-based electronic artist SorchaLula. Emerging from the Aotearoa underground with a reputation for sensual, slinky and bass-driven DJ sets, SorchaLula is an artist whose original works have previously been reserved for her most intimate dancefloors.
‘Why So Far’ offers the first introduction to SorchaLula’s diverse production style, exploring an experimental take on deep house and featuring guitarist Merlin Webster (solo alias of Tim Key of Newtown Rocksteady), whose yearning guitar melody brings an organic warmth to the track. Together, the pair balance intricate percussive textures with atmospheric detail and deep physical grooves, crafting an expressive sonic environment
At the heart of SorchaLula’s practice is an intuitive understanding of movement. Her creative output explores the intersection of beauty and filth, strength and vulnerability. Originally from the Isle of Man and part of Wellington’s creative community since 2011, her background in dance and visual art informs an approach to electronic production that moves across breaks, bass and experimental house.
