The latest 2-track release from Sanoi is a beautiful double-headed organism that moves and pulses, layering elements together to create something more organic.

‘Together’ is a stylistical departure from the previous singles from Sanoi, as the producer breaks away from the usual 4/4 drum pattern and focuses more on textural grooves and polyrhythms.

Bass music producer Paige Julia, winner of Best Electronic Artist at the 2021 Aotearoa Music Awards, provides an atmospheric breakbeat remix of ‘Together’ reminiscent of mid-90s jungle. She gives an insight into this process:

“I wanted to go for a sadder edge to the track, like a desperate lover begging to be taken back “Please! Keep us together!”. I messed around with some echo effects to get a rhythmic pattern in the notes I was playing, in relation to the arpeggio and rain atmospherics, to convey the feeling of the moment I was conjuring. I knew I was going to redesign the drums and bass sounds to be more in line with my style and we ended up with a jungle influenced track that wouldn’t be out of place from the time of my childhood.”
