“There's a song about an android who commits suicide, a song about a girl named Truth who evades the law while trying to find God, and a song about playing a concert for gang members. Some of these stories are true.”

Electric Wire Hustle are proud to announce the release today of the brand new Aeons EP, released via LOOP and Bastard Jazz. The EP is the first taste of new material since 2014’s critically acclaimed album Love Can Prevail.

The Aeons EP shows the continued progression of Electric Wire Hustle, pushing their sound into new territories. The EP features 5 new tunes, drawing on elements of hip-hop, soul, psychedelia and electronica, all filtered through the classic EWH sound. The EP also features guest appearances from NZ legends Kimbra and Deva Mahal, coupled with the inimitable voice of Mara TK and the unmistakable production of Taay Ninh.

While Love Can Prevail documented the band’s relocation to Berlin and starting new lives as immigrants, the Aeons EP is a collection of short stories.

“On our last record Love Can Prevail I was trying to distil the lyrics into some key statements about society, whether that actually f**king worked I have no idea. But with this new body of work I’m hoping to be the musical equivalent of David Lynch; to take the listener on a wild ride through new imagined worlds…” - Mara TK

The Aeons EP, available now, is the next step in the evolution of Electric Wire Hustle, and the first step towards a third album.

“Somewhere between the world at large and paradise is this EP of five songs; short stories against a backdrop of experimental music. Whatever you think of it, I promise you, if nothing else it will take you on journey…” - Mara TK.

The third in the Loop Select Mixtape series has arrived and is available for a free download.

The brand new mixtape again showcases some of the finest musical talent in New Zealand, and a few gems from previous years. Featuring brand new hip-hop talents ENO X DIRTY and Yoko-zuna along with Loop Select favourites Taste Nasa and Spycc. Also featured is Aron Ottignon and Rodi Kirk’s amazing version of the Electric Wire Hustle track ‘Brother Sun’, which is available on their brand new Aeons EP (see above!).

LPMT003 is undoubtedly the most eclectic installment yet, at times throwing elements of disco, electronica, psychedlia and rap at the wall, and hoping it will stick. Luckily (in our humble opinion), it works.

And last but absolutely not least! With his first release since 2013's Stories from Elsewhere, we're proud to present this brand new release from Rhian Sheehan! The free LP Live At The Wellington Opera House blends songs from his 2013 performance withe Orchestra Wellington, along with select songs from his acclaimed Standing In Silence show in 2010.

Live At The Wellington Opera House is a series of enchanting instrumental works, offering an excursion into a soundscape of tender ethereal textures, brooding big cinematic string arrangements, and playful experimental musicbox lullabies.
