Wellington-based producer Module makes his return with The Best of Module (2003 - 2022). Across 28 tracks, the release follows the journey from one of NZ’s most acclaimed producers across a long & varied career.

Featuring a number of unreleased tracks, and a number of tracks which span across 20 years, The Best of Module (2003 - 2022) shows the varied underground electronic sounds that have gained Module acclaim as a one-man creative sound agency across Aotearoa and beyond.

Capturing tracks released across albums including his debut album Remarkable Engines & it’s follow-up Imagineering, plus soundtrack work for video games, film, TV & a myriad of additional releases, this release shows the electronic-based eclectic sound that has made Module an artist with a voice all his own.

The release moves seamlessly across his broken-beat, downtempo, electro tracks, and features his piano-based and ambient works which have featured throughout his career. Always an artist looking to collaborate, his remix work for contemporary Rhian Sheehan is also featured, plus a previously-unavailable remix of a collaboration between Hollie Smith & Zimbo Trio. A constant content machine, recent singles ‘The Corporation’ & ‘Electrochemicals’ are also featured, showing the direction where Module’s work is currently heading.

Always grounded in electronica, The Best of Module showcases an artist 20 years deep with no signs of slowing. The best person to reflect on this journey is the man himself -

“Never would I have thought, 20 years ago, in small town Palmerston North, with my Pentium II computer and a few instruments from the op shop, I would have been here now with a best of album with 28 tracks representing my work as Module.  Module was created as a side project in 2003, those two years spent creating my first album chasing that sound in my mind, but quickly took over my life in 2005 after meeting Mikee Tucker from Loop Recordings. Quickly we went into final production of Remarkable Engines, then off with Fly My Pretties, the years of touring with Rhian Sheehan, the other worldly experiences, remixes and collaborations. Then into being an international video game composer, science fiction film soundtracks, all the rest in between while still creating albums and singles, building musical worlds.

To be a part of the NZ music scene has been a blessing and gift for me - always one to chase dreams, it seemed the ideal situation. Looking back and looking forward, it’s personally great for me to showcase the music with this Best Of compilation. People talk about making it, and I feel here and now listening to all of this, I really have made it. I made the music, and that's what this is about really.

Just sharing that, all those moments combined and captured, then fired back out again from the speakers for you to get lost in, just as much as I have.” - Jeremiah Ross aka Module
