Coming off the back of their most successful year to date, SUB-TRIBE kicked off 2023 with 'Orbit', a brand-new summer single for the lovers. Stripping back the bass-heavy party atmosphere the band are known for, the track captures the sweeter side of SUB-TRIBE, leaning into warmth, melody and a more romantic groove.

Lead guitarist Tommy-John Herbert takes the lead on vocals, setting the tone with a classic rocksteady falsetto, while frontman Ray Te Oranga Nolan backs him up with an infatuated ragga verse. Lyrically, 'Orbit' paints a cosmic picture of two imaginary star-crossed lovers swooning for each other across the galaxy.

The track features Aotearoa drum heavyweights Zane Graham on drums and Travis Dearden on percussion, alongside the mellow jazz guitar tones of Australia’s Jim Wilson. The collaboration signals the ongoing evolution of SUB-TRIBE, as the band continue to build their profile both locally and internationally.

'Orbit' arrived as one of many releases planned for the year, with SUB-TRIBE also set to appear at major festivals including Jammin in Sydney and Wide Open Spaces in Alice Springs. The single offers another glimpse into the many facets of the band’s sound, balancing their dub-fusion foundations with a softer, more soulful edge.
